The Citadel ( Tower Of David)

Tower of David is actually the minaret of a mosque built in the Ottoman period encompassing a couple of Towers, Walls, Ramps and Gardens by the Jaffa Gate (Bab El Khalil) entrance. The site is worth taking time to explore. It is believed that Herod built the tower and there are still the remains of three towers since that time. The Mamluk rebuilt it in the 14th century, where King Bin-Qalawoon added a mosque in 1310 and fortified it. Another minaret was added to the mosque in 1531 by Sultan Suleiman the magnificent. Now the Citadel has been changed into a museum. The citadel features a sound and light show that worth seeing.
